Comforting and warming beef bourguignon perfect for the slow cooker.

Ideal for freezing leftovers, I served mine up with petit pois. Could also be enjoyed with most other veggies, potatoes or bread.

Ingredients

Serves 4

  • 800g stewing steak, cut into chunks

  • 2 white onions diced

  • 3-4 carrots, diced

  • 3 bay leaves

  • 1 beef stock cube

  • 3 tbsp flour

  • 2 tbsp red wine vinegar

  • 300g mushrooms

  • 2 tbsp tomato purée

  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed

Directions

  1. Toss the beef in the flour

  2. Heat a little oil in a pan and brown of the beef, this may need to be done in batches

  3. Add the onions and garlic and cook for 5 mins

  4. Add the rest of the ingredients and move to the slow cooker. Add 50ml water, season with salt and pepper and mix well

  5. Cook on low for 8 hours or 4 hours on high
